Ivy Lawn Memorial Cemetery

Ventura, California

With a history reaching back to early twentieth century, Ivy Lawn Memorial Park has evolved over the decades, reflecting the changing times. Its mausoleum was the “first of its kind” in 1964, and it boasts exquisite examples of stained glass art.

A note from the local event organizer:

“On Memorial Day I see the impact that placing a flower makes on an individual. This gesture provides a unique opportunity for an individual to, honor, reflect, respect and pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

In 2017 we placed 3000 stems of flowers on headstones at Ivy Lawn with the help of about 50 people including civilians, Military spouses and their children and Active duty. Prior to the placement we had all the children at Ojai Valley School help to tie the note cards to each flower. This is also when we take the time to remind children what Memorial Day is all about.

In 2018 we placed 5000 stems of flowers on headstones at Ivy Lawn with the help of about 75 people including civilians, Military spouses and their children and Active duty. Prior to the placement we had all the children at Ojai Valley School, San Antonio Elementary, Miners Oaks Elementary and Mira Monte Elementary Schools help to tie the note cards to each flower. This is also when we take the time to remind children what Memorial Day is all about.

“There should be no more forgotten wars, families or veterans—regardless of your political beliefs, it is an honor and privilege to serve those who serve us, and our duty as a nation to continue to support and serve our veterans”

My name is Wendy Tremiti and I am a Proud Military Spouse in Ojai California. With the help of so many including my husband Philip and 3 boys, Steel, Valor and Legend we will be fulfilling our 4th year out at Ivy Lawn Memorial Cemetery. This year we are hoping to place 10,000+ stems of flowers at Ivy Lawn but can’t do it without support.
